Musical Moments

My earliest exposure to photography and motion pictures came from a family friend who was an avid jazz lover. As soon as I was able to drive I devoted myself to following the performances of the Black Artist Group around St. Louis, Missouri. While my friends were be bopping to the Temptations I was soaring with the music of Charles Bobo Shaw, Oliver Lake, Julius Hemphill and others. Over the years I became a fixture on the BAG scene.

While a student at Harvard University I reignited my childhood desire to create pictures, majoring in Visual and Environmental Studies. Frequent trips to New York City allowed me to reconnect with my B.A.G. friends. Shortly after graduation I moved to New York and my life changed forever. These photographs and videos represent some of my earliest attempts to capture this music I love.

Well I’m back in New York with a wealth of new photographs and video to share. Please keep an eye on icannentrprises.com.

Enjoy,

Clement Cann
